First Presbyterian Church is overwhelmed with gratitude for our members, our community, our local businesses and agencies who all come together to serve over neighbors on this day of thanks. We are grateful for our partner agencies Columbia County Department of Social Services, Columbia County Office for the Aging, Greenport Manor, and Providence Hall who work hard to identify homeless and homebound residents throughout the county who can benefit from a delicious hot meal delivery to their door whether they are in assisted living or in a motel. Special thanks goes to our donors Golden Harvest Farms for our apples, Samascott Orchards for apple cider, Roxbury Farm CSA for sweet potatoes, Salvation Army and Christ Church in Hudson for rolls, Aeble Restaurant in Hudson for celery, onions, and stock to make dressing, Vico Restaurant in Hudson for cranberry sauce, Hannaford of Kinderhook for stuffing croutons, LoveApple Farm for 200 compostable take out containers, The Rosery in Hudson for flower arrangements for every household we delivered to, and cash donations from Peter Frank, the Greenport Firehouse, the Dutch Reformed Church of Claverack that enabled us to purchase mashed potatoes, butter, green beans, and foil pans to cook for 300 people! We are immensely grateful to our 22 turkey cookers and donors: Brad Kiel, Sara Borchert, Alan Wanzenberg, Tamar Adler, Peter Frank, Cindy Andrus, Lisbeth Karlson, Suzanne Snider, Lee Jamison and Christian Swensigan, Mandy Riccio, Alison Parke, Jamison Teale, Katharine Umstead, Sondra Gill, Deb Tibensky, Bob Lucky/The Cascades in Hudson, Elizabeth and Willy Coleman, Robert Ihlenberg, Bill and June Simons, Janet Morabito, and Renee Gibson. And to our amazing delivery drivers and volunteers who cook, serve, bus tables, clean, with us from Tuesday to Turkey Day - you are awesome! A special thanks to the talented Abby Lappen who serenades us as we dine and hustle - it wouldn't be thanksgiving without you! And to Christ Church Episcopal for hosting us once again, your space is absolutely perfect and we are so appreciative of your gracious hospitality.
